Despite this authour's superfluous use of the word 'appealing' , I for one did not find this composition appealing in the slightest. The excessive employment of repetitive , monotonous vocabulary along with the an abundance of grammatical mistakes in this anti-climactic evaluation of what is inarguably an extensively intriguing collection of poetry, culminates to a piece which does little to endear itself to us. Although my bias may stem from my fervent opposition to the author's interpretation of Bishop's poetry, her prolific over-analysis and fragmented continuity augments my aversion toward it. Eloquent, expressive language appears to have been arbitrarily inserted to convey a sense of articulacy which is otherwise nonexistent, but serves only to further contribute to the disjunct of the writers flow, and exacerbate the already lackluster composition. In conclusion, despite much exertion I could not bring myself to enjoy this piece, nor did I find it particularly helpful. However, I believe it could be considerably improved with the implementation of various literary techniques (variety of lexicon being the most prominent) , in order to detract from the protractedness and mundanity the piece presently retains.

From glancing at the essay I was somewhat intimidated by the density and volume of text. In my opinion it lacked structure and accessibility. I found the conclusion very abrupt and for me it lacked coherence. On the other hand I appreciated the way the essay was replete with interesting analysis on Bishops work. The key to making it a competent essay was to revert back to the premise which the writer did in fact do which also earns him some "brownie points". Overall it was an essay worth reading if you desire notes on Bishop but not one for a revelatory insight.

I think that this was quite intriguing yet the length and depth was very overwhelming. The structure was a bit all over the place and I feel that that conclusion was very abrupt and lacked a sense of conclusion! The notes are quite good and they would most definitely be helpful for our studies on Bishop. He had a good sense of what he was talking about and tied it all in together quite nicely.

From appearance the essay looks to be incredibly interesting but I think we should stay true to the old proverb of not judging based on appearance as the essay is anything but. John Ryan (author) seems to be strangely captivated by the word appealing. His overuse of the word made the essay even more mind-numbing that it already was if that's even possible.

Although I did not agree with all the points that this writer has portrayed, I for one, thought their take on Bishop's poetry was intriguing. I feel that I now have a better idea of what an answer should look like in an exam. The repeated use of the word 'poetry' however, was not appealing in the slightest and the concluding paragraph was appalling. I do not think that it was a wasted effort, however it could be improved.
